In hardly any other industry do emotions have such a great influence on the success of a product as in the food and beverage industry. Products are purchased that pick up on consumer trends – in terms of taste, but also visually. Essential factors are health and safety, nutrition and well-being, lifestyle and quality of life. They shape both the product and its packaging.

The market for food packaging is under great pressure to innovate. Consumers are looking for products that they like and like. However, it is also crucial to buy whether the packaging is safe and environmentally friendly. For food producers, the design of packaging is becoming one of the central challenges. New packaging material in conjunction with digital printing techniques will create a new generation of products. Interactive packaging offers a wealth of product information directly from the shelf and offers a new, emotionally rich shopping experience.

GUTOM GmbH & Co. KG is a company that offers cutting-edge solutions for the food industry in packaging technology, filling and process control. The comprehensive portfolio meets all the machine requirements of a food packaging line – regardless of whether the packaging is made of paper, cardboard, plastic, glass or metal, whether the product is fresh or preserved and whether it is snacks, biscuits or soups. The development of associated packaging concepts is one of the core tasks and, if it is to be a pre-containing packaging, e.g. made of cardboard, can also be produced by GUTOM.

briefly explained

Since January 2021, we have been a proud partner of the umbrella brand “Schleswig-Holstein.Der echte Norden.” Because we are at home in the real north. In our mechanical engineering department (project: ECKO-Process), we have started the development of an automated production of foiled cardboard boxes for the food industry with an automatic separation of film and cardboard when used by the consumer.

Since reliability and the highest quality are important in mechanical engineering and the production of sustainable packaging materials, we have deliberately opted for the development and production site in Büdelsdorf. Development, mechanical engineering, production and technical support come from a single source. And from one place: our location here in the real north.

The connection to Schleswig-Holstein, the people and to our economic partners strengthens us in our philosophy of continuing to support Schleswig-Holstein as a business location.

GUTOM GmbH & Co. KG…

… was founded almost 40 years ago and within a very short time has firmly established itself as a specialist company in the food industry on the German and Austrian market.

Consulting, project planning and customer service are the focal points of the company. The focus is always on the most important point of the respective project, the product and its packaging!

In recent years, GUTOM has become the company’s most successful sales partner worldwide G.Mondini S.p.A. and is the exclusive representative for Germany and Austria. The globally recognized high-performance systems with an unmatched degree of flexibility are individually planned for your applications. Not only the sales, but also the technical support, the project planning and the spare parts management of the trayseal lines, as well as the filling technology, destacker technology and lid technology is controlled and supported by our company headquarters in Bad Bramstedt, north of Hamburg.

Since 2019, the company Metalquimia from Spain has also been part of the GUTOM portfolio. The expertise in process technology has thus been expanded and is very popular in the German, Austrian and Swiss markets (D.A.CH.

In February 2020, the production of pre-containing packaging started and enjoys steady growth. Due to the increasing number of customer orders, both in production as well as in machine sales and mechanical engineering, the construction of a new company building consisting of administration, mechanical engineering and production was started in September 2021. Completion and the associated relocation is planned for August 2022.

An ExperienceCenter will be created to show demonstrations of trayseal technology and to better visualize projects. Whether it is the skin or MAP technology or just a simple sealing, GUTOM wants to present all this at the new location. You can also help develop your own cardboard tray and the function around the packaging. The existing machinery in production or in the ExperienceCenter should always invite you to visit.
